Sunset from our front porch this week

The heavens declare the glory of God:
and the firmament shows forth his handiwork.
Day unto day offers speech,
And night unto night reveals knowledge. Psalm 19:1-2

Giving a Blanket

Giving things away makes me happy, so I was pleased to see this donation box at CVS yesterday. A donation of $2.50 would provide a blanket for a local homeless shelter.
Give and it will be given unto you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you. Luke 6:38

Happy New Year!

As confetti falls and fireworks decorate the sky, millions watch, greeting the new year together. Two, zero, zero, nine. How often do we get so involved with the task at hand and our own perceived lack of time that we fail to consider the significance of the event that happened some two thousand and nine years ago. I'm not one for making much of New Year's resolutions, but here is a goal. Each time I write 2009, I will remember that 2009 years ago Mary held her little baby Jesus for the first time and laid him in a manger.

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:16
